In the 90’s developers had little choice but to render their creative output in 2D pixel art. This soon was followed by heavy 3D gaming that saturated the gaming market but in the recent years we have seen a resurrection of pixel gaming. “Space War – 2D Pixel Retro Shooter” from SHMUP HOLIC is one of its kind ultimate space battle game with eye appealing 2D graphics and fast paced game play and an ascending difficult to reach the mega boss stages that every gamer wants to surpass.

Gameplay:

Use your knack to eliminate incoming warships, obstructions and enemy fire to keep moving on to next levels, while you do you so also come across with enemy battleships with higher difficulty in terms of health power and attack power. Moreover you will come across enemies with artilleries that can spread their fire, send missiles that will follow your space ship but to counter it you will come across a variety of power ups that can help you achieve more wider fire spread, help you shoot faster and with more impact, lazor beams and shields.  The increasing complexity in the game and a reward style makes the game more  interesting for challenge seekers.   The game comes with 8 exciting levels and if you are feeling you can finish all of them in a day, no my friend you have got it wrong, try your hands on the challenging experience of Space wars.

Rewards:

Rewards being the most exciting part of the game, each victory gives you some coins and reaching a high score gives you more. With Boss’s being the nightmare of the game you earn big loots when you defeat each boss, including new planes. You can also unlock new planes, shields, guns, bombs and magnets by using the in game currency of coins.

Controls:  Your screen is your war field.

As opposed to what a lot of players have experienced on other shooting games we found the controls to extremely intuitive , since you need not control your spaceship with a virtual joystick and you can use any part of the screen to slide your finger ultimately moving your spacecraft while still keeping it visible to avoid hurdles and crossfire’s. Your space ship is also on auto-fire so you need not keep your thumb busy pressing the shoot button on screen giving you more room for navigation and greater visibility on screen.

The Social You :

“Space War – 2D Pixel Retro Shooter” comes with Google Play support to keep your progress synced on all your devices and also connect with the global high scores on its leader boards to compete against everyone around the globe.

The Verdict:

The game controls and 2D graphics are probably the best part of the whole package apart from the variety of enemies to fight against. Sure, it’s a worthwhile game to play, but at a price as low as nothing, you can buy it without guilt, even if you’re unsure if it’s for you.
